Artist Statement/Bio

For this series, I decided to take pictures of plants that are invasive to Maryland, specifically Wine Raspberry, Bamboo, English Ivy, and Purple Dead Nettle. I have always had an interest in plants and the natural beauty of the world. Invasive species are inevitable in natural environments, but they don’t necessarily take away from the beauty. Each plant from this series has a different effect on the surrounding areas and is fairly common in Maryland. I am hoping for this series to showcase how invasive species add to the visual beauty of natural environments, rather than hindering the native plants.
