Arts and Communications Workshops

The Arts & Communications Department welcomes students from Cecil County Public Schools and beyond for a half-day of art and design workshops.

Our faculty and staff provide instructional demos, portfolio reviews, and on-location workshops at regional schools in Delaware, Pennsylvania, and Maryland.

Registration Instructions

Complete a Google form for each student. Class sizes are limited to 15. Select a different class for each session, for example, if the student chooses 3D for the 9:45am class, select Graphic Design for the 11:10am class. Contact ajacono@cecil.edu if you have any issues.

3D Modeling

Learn from a skilled master of 3D modeling and animation: Mr. Jon Cone. Make use of Sculptris, a virtual sculpting program.

Acrylic Paint Workshop

Acrylic Painting

Geometric shapes and different color schemes will be investigated through the lens of abstraction. Explore color, pattern, composition and form while learning acrylic painting techniques.

Decorating Ceramics

Design and decorate ceramic plates in this hands-on workshop.

Figure Drawing

Explore contour and gesture to study the human form. Charcoal and graphite will be used

Graphic Design

Sharpen your art and design skills in Photoshop CC and Adobe Illustrator on our new iMac computers.

Location Photography

Tour the campus with a Canon T5i DSLR, learn natural lighting concepts, be a model, and make a ton of photographs!

Slab Building

Explore texture and learn to make a simple cup or vase using the slab technique. 

Studio Photography

Learn the basics of studio lighting, participate as a model, and photograph your friends! This option sometimes includes painting with light as well

Juried ART Scholarship

Grades 6-11 A free week at a Visual Communications Program Cecil College Summer Camp in Digital Photography, Digital Imaging, Video Production, Computer Animation, Multimedia, or Game Design. 

Grade 12 $1,000 Kristi Eisenberg Scholarship to attend Cecil College’s VCP program full-time, towards study in one of the following concentrations: Graphic Design and Multimedia, Photography, Simulation Design and Gaming, Video, or Web.

Grade 12 $1,000 Cecil College Foundation Scholarship to attend Cecil College’s VCP program full-time, towards study in one of the following concentrations: Graphic Design and Multimedia, Photography, Simulation Design and Gaming, Video, or Web.
